“Apollo” has Landed. snom 821 UC edition Desktop Phone with Apollo Firmware Earns ‘Qualified for Microsoft Lync’ Status

While not quite a lunar landing, we are equally excited by today’s announcement of the Apollo snom UC edition firmware achieving qualification for Microsoft Lync. The news centers around the snom 821 UC edition desktop phone configured with the new Apollo firmware as our first UC edition phone to receive the ‘Qualified for Microsoft Lync’ designation. This important milestone marks the first step towards our expected qualification in the coming weeks of the entire snom UC portfolio running Apollo firmware including the snom 300 UC edition and snom 370 UC edition.

What makes this news so special? You might remember our announcement of the beta release of Apollo this past May describing how the new features included in Apollo not only help speed and simplify deploying and operating Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Enterprise Voice with snom UC edition phones in multi-site business environments, but also adds new, yet familiar features like Music on Hold (MOH), Boss/Admin and Presence Buttons. Today’s official announcement means the snom 821 UC edition with Apollo firmware is currently the only Lync phone on the market with these new features.

Now that the snom 821 UC edition with Apollo firmware has been ‘Qualified for Microsoft Lync,’ resellers and businesses can take full advantage of the integrated configuration and management of the snom 821 UC edition phones with the Microsoft Lync Server for fast and simple plug-and-play deployments, creating true bottom line savings. Resellers might also find that having features like Music on Hold, Boss/Admin and Presence Buttons could be the difference between winning and losing a piece of business. For enterprise organizations committed to outstanding customer service, MOH, and the ease of managing calls between boss/admin makes the upgrade to Microsoft Lync as seamless as possible for users.
